Born in Wuhan, China, Muyi Xiao is a visual storyteller based in Shangai.
In the summer of 2015, Muyi left her job as a photojournalist when she learned she was chosen as one of the seven Magnum Foundation Photography and Human Rights Fellows. As a fellow, she studied at an intense five-week program at New York University. After the fellowship, she went for further study with full scholarship at the International Center for Photography’s one-year New Media Narrative program in New York City.
She graduated in June 2016. Her works have been featured on international and domestic publications including but not limited to New York Times, BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, Tencent.
